Edda Design

Case
All products that have a modified version specially adapted for people with disabilities must take two things into consideration: They will be produced in much smaller numbers than the ones that are not adapted, and they require optimal ergonomic design. Talgo's Trenhotel needed to replicate all the functionalities of the remotes included in their regular seats in an adapted stand-alone solution.

Challenge
Our goal was to translate the seat remote control without loosing any of its capabilities. As it wasn't destined to be attached to a seat, it had to be light and discreet. We also had to work with a very tight budget in mind, as less than 100 units were to be produced, and the cost of a unit could easily skyrocket with such a low order.

Solution
Our design managed to keep all the features of the seat version, and thanks to our rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing technologies we were able not only to actually manufacture every unit ourselves, avoiding the huge initial costs of regular manufacturing techniques, but also to be able to apply our ergonomic diagnoses during the early design stages to make it even better.
